Account information: When you sign up, we collect your email address, display name, and authentication credentials (or OAuth tokens if you sign in via Google).

Usage data: We collect data about how you interact with the Service — search queries (text and image), results viewed, items saved, taste ratings (likes and dislikes), and chat conversation history.

Images you upload: When you use visual search, uploaded images are processed by our AI pipeline to extract garment descriptions and embeddings. Images may be temporarily cached to improve response times.

Device and technical data: IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, and session timestamps for security and analytics purposes.

Payment data: Billing is handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers or bank details — only your subscription tier and Stripe customer ID.

• Provide and improve the Service, including AI search results and personalised taste recommendations.
• Process transactions and manage your subscription.
• Send service-related communications (account activity, security alerts, billing receipts).
• Send marketing communications where you have opted in (you may opt out at any time).
• Monitor and analyse usage patterns to improve performance and detect abuse.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data to train third-party AI models without your explicit consent.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service.

• Free plan chat history: 7 days.
• Plus/Base plan chat history: 90 days.
• Pro/Admin plan chat history: indefinitely while account is active.
• Taste ratings, saves, and collection data: retained while account is active.
• Billing records: retained for 7 years as required by applicable tax law.

When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Portability: Export your data (searches, saves, taste ratings) from Settings > Data.
• Rectification: Correct inaccurate personal data through your account settings.
• Erasure: Delete your account and associated data from Settings > Data > Delete account.
• Restriction: Request that we restrict processing of your data in certain circumstances.
• Objection: Object to processing based on our legitimate interests.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the GDPR. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@fashionscout.io. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

FashionScout uses minimal cookies necessary for the Service to function. We use session cookies for authentication and a local storage token ("fs_token") to maintain your login state.

We do not use tracking cookies for advertising. PostHog analytics uses a first-party cookie to distinguish unique sessions. You may opt out of analytics by contacting us.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you by email (if you have an account) or by posting a prominent notice on the Service. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
